SW Florida Wading Birds Photo Expedition

Explore Florida's Southwest region on this short 2-day instructional photo tour. We will be concentrating on photographing wading birds - some of the most iconic birds of Florida.

Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus)
Roseate Spoonbill (Ajaia ajaja)
Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis)
Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis)
Reddish Egret (Egretta rufescens)
Sandhill Crane (Grus canadensis)
Yellow-crowned Night-Heron (Nyctanassa violacea)
American Bittern (Botaurus lentiginosus)
Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga)
Double-crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus)

If we're lucky, we might even see some raptors flyby, such as Osprey, Bald Eagle, Red-shouldered Hawk, Crested Caracara, Peregrine Falcon.

 

Suggested Equipment:
DSLR camera
Minimum a 70-200mm lens with a teleconverter. 400mm, 500mm would be recommended.
Tripod support may be used.
Flashes are optional

Itinerary:
Two full days of shooting, divided into morning & afternoon sessions. Each session will last about 2-3 hours, depending on weather.

What this includes:
Bird photography field instruction
1-on-1 Q/A throughout the duration of workshop

What it doesn’t include:
Lodging
Meals
Transportation

Important Note: Only individuals in good health, and physically able to walk 1 to 3 miles per day carrying their equipment, in temperature up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, should take this workshop. At many of these locations, the only access is by walking.

$850 per person (USD)

Deposit:
A $400 non-refundable deposit is required by January 31 to hold your spot.
The remaining balance should be paid no later than February 15, 2013.
